Scars of Abyssea Website Unveiled! (Also Sleih’s [Church] thoughts.

Posted by: Church @ 11:37 am Share in Facebook Tweet This

**Disclaimer~!** The first part of this post is not of my own, it is just a repaste from the official site. After the post, I will include my thoughts. **Disclaimer end-o~!**

With the release of Scars of Abyssea—the second in the Abyssea series of battle area add-ons—drawing ever closer, the official Abyssea homepage has been updated with a sneak preview of what awaits players in this latest installment.

The site will be updated regularly as the release date nears. With a promotional video and other exciting information on the way, you’ll want to keep checking back for all the latest news!

Visit the Scars of Abyssea website today!

*The Scars of Abyssea content will become playable upon the release of the next FINAL FANTASY XI version update, currently scheduled for early September.

Now for my portion. I’ll start by saying I’m excited for the new add-on. Visions of Abyssea’s been quite a bit of fun, and the music has been absolutely fantastic. But I will say, after looking at the screens that are posted on the site… I’m a tad sad about something…

WHY?! Why dear lord… why SE?! WHY?! I hatehateHATE~(!) gears and chariots… Why put them in Abyssea? Do you hate me so?! I’ll be stuck on DRK for the rest of my life… stun… stun… stun… stun… @0@ Not that I hate DRK… but I like to be able to play other jobs as well… but enough of my moaning. I’m really looking forward to the next version update, I think it’s going to be loads of fun once again. Level cap going more than likely to 90 means subjob leveling, and just overall leveling again. Most people hate it, but I actually enjoy leveling. I wonder how irrelevant my equipment will become once again though. lol

With that I’ll wrap up. Thanks for reading, and ja ne~!

Ancients of Ooga Review

Posted by: Cybermario @ 7:36 pm Share in Facebook Tweet This

Hello gaming lovers, from the creators of the acclaimed A Kingdom for Keflings and Kaloki Outpost X we have a new and entertainment game: Ancients of ooga, if not a sequel it is considered by many the spiritual successor of the Arcade Hit Cloning Clyde.

In this interesting title the tribe of the Ooganians has been tricked, enslaved and their leaders killed by an evil race known as Boolis, and is up to you their great spirit to help them free the enslaved ooganians and revive their leaders to regain their long lost freedom.

As the great spirit you can possess any ooganian you released from their slavery, there is a total of seven tribes, each tribe of the ooganians have different strengths needed to solve the puzzles you will encounter along 50 plus levels in the game, there’s a 2 player mode by using a second controller and a leaderboard but not a co-op mode via Xbox Live which is regretable.

The game give you a good dose of humor and the puzzles are are interesting to solve, i like how the game combines puzzle and platformer (i wish more developers could release more platformer games, we really need them) with 3D graphics that give the game a colorful and cheerful look.
and may be just me but i had a Donkey Kong Country Dejavu at first (believe me that was a good thing).

Colorful and cheerful graphics are delightful

The music if not spectacular is quite good with tribal tunes that will make the game enjoyable as some noises from ooganians and boolis can be a bit repetitive, definitely the music is one of the strong points in this title.

The game delivers a good and relaxing gameplay experience as many Ninjabee titles do (an example is A Kingdom for Keflings) something i enjoy in a game after a long day before i head to bed.

Not everything in Ancients of Ooga is as expected, you can die an infinite amount of times with the only a penalty in your score but that is not enough of an incentive to avoid a death as you advance in the game, turning it into a trial and error sometimes and this remove some challenge from the game, having a fixed number of lives and finding items to gain some more could be good.

Would be good to have a boss battle at the end of each level to add a bit of challenge and content to the gameplay experience, this could break some of the repetitive routine in the different levels, who know maybe a sequel can bring us this and more?

Nonetheless Ancients of Ooga from NinjaBee and J. Kenworthy Entertainment is a good title, i did enjoy the game and if you like the genre you should give it a try too, an Xbox Live title that will give you hours of fun.

Been A Bit, Hasn’t It?

Posted by: Church @ 8:35 pm Share in Facebook Tweet This

It has been forever and a day since I last said something on here… and for that, I apologize. I just felt like sharing some of my thoughts on a few things.

First, let me start off by saying I was pleasantly surprised with E3 this year, but equally disappointed. Microsoft had a very strong showing, with Kinect, the slimmed down 360, and… well that’s just it… I was excited with the hardware aspects of Microsofts presentation… but at the same time felt very unsatisfied. There was just something that didn’t really get me all excited… Nintendo on the otherhand, I have to say, was very impressive. I had pretty much given up on Nintendo, but that has all changed. Nintendo gave me something, truly Nintendo. After watching the presentaion, I was excited beyond belief. Several new titles I’m looking forward to. Oh yeah, and the 3DS. Going to be amazing. Sony… was like this movie release poster… it pretty much shows you what you already know… There was NOTHING, let me emphasize, NOTHING that Sony showed that made me the least bit excited. I was shocked to see that Gran Turismo 5 finally got a release date, but other than that… nothing thrilled me from that camp. And Ubisoft? That was just plain p-a-t-h-e-t-i-c. I could not believe how horrid it was. Overall, I was more excited about this year’s E3, than I was for last year’s.

Now on to another note… I WANT TO GO TO AX SO BADLY! Reason being… May’n? Nakajima Megumi? Horie Yui? Kitamura Eri? Could you have a better guest list? Plus there’s the sneaking suspicion that either Kanno Yoko or Sakamoto Maaya will be there with May’n and Megumi for their concert… maybe that’s just me. But yea, I hate that I didn’t find out that it was going to be THAT awesome until a month before, leaving no time for me to save near enough money to go. But, life goes on, and you always miss opportunities. -sigh- xD My anime viewing has dwindled quite significantly… I’m sooo far behind on series’ (And those reviews I was going to do… ugh!) So I have to play catch up sometime soon. Have been mainly watching though FMA, K-ON!!, Kaichou wa Maid-sama!, and Shugo Chara Doki! I finish Shugo Chara last week, and I must say I’m pleasently surprised by it. (I even started buying the manga D;) I first looked into the series I thought it was like really kidish… but it’s really not, and extremely good. Other than that, not been watching much. Been playing entirely way too much Final Fantasy XI though. Dx

So for now everyone, I must say oyasumi nesai!

Wallace & Gromit – Fright of the Bumblebees (XBLA Demo review)

Posted by: Cybermario @ 10:59 pm Share in Facebook Tweet This

Wallace and Grommit has been delighting us for a time with their funny and entertainment movies along the years and now is their turn to do it on the Xbox 360, will they succeed? this is a review of the Demo “Wallace and Gromit – Fright of the Bumblebees”, the first in a 4 chapter adventure Telltale Games brings to Xbox Live Arcade.

At first you have to go throught a tutorial to learn how you will interact with the world of Wallace and Gromit, it is a shame you cannot skip the tutorial as you may want to start having fun with the game instead of losing time with a (let’s face it) boring tutorial specially as a grown up, then again remember the game is mainly for a younger audience and this may have been a boo boo by the developers.

The game is a sort of point and click genre (something i’d like to see more, like in zack and wiki for example) and is a good change from the huge amount of FPS’s out there, you dont play as Wallace or Gromit but as a 3rd person interacting with them, guiding our friends in the right direction to make the game events and story advance, is like watching an interactive movie and this it’s fun for fans and kids alike.

Will gromit save Wallace? oh the suspense! D:

The game have some flaws, camera angles are one of them.. sometimes moving Wallace in a wrong direction may make us return or go to a different area when we want do something else in the place we are at, if minor, it can be annoying from time to time.

another downside is you cant die, literally you cant die..! if you are not sure of the next action or object needed to continue with the game turn into a trial and error chore, as the game is aimed for a younger audience this may not be as bad as it sounds but in my opinion take out the challenge factor from the game, something even kids will feel dissapointed (as a kid wasnt you proud to beat a level that made you sweat bullets for days?)

some people may find some pixelated details here and there and is not something you can let slip easy with the current generation of consoles but taking in mind it is an Arcade title developers may not have taken proper care or time into that but is nothing to make you have a bad experience in-game.

Overall, “Wallace and Gromit – Fright of the Bumblebees” is a funny and entertainment game for kids (or parents wanting to share time with their kids) and die hard fans of the movies and i will recommend it only if you are one these two cases, if you are a hardcore gamer searching for a challenge the game definitely it’s NOT for you, thanks for reading and keep gaming!
