Sanrio® is the global company behind classic iconic characters Hello Kitty®, Little Twin Stars®, My Melody®, and many more. Sanrio® was founded in the 1960′s in Japan by Shintaro Tsuji, whose simple dream of bringing smiles to people’s faces grew into the brand’s “small gift, big smile” philosophy. This philosophy has served as the inspiration for the broad spectrum of products bearing the likeness of endearing characters that have helped to skyrocket the brand into a $5 billion-a-year business. Sanrio® recently acquired the classic Mr. Men Little Missâ„¢ brand which also has graphic novels published by VIZ Media.

“Sanrio and Hello Kitty are synonymous with the very essence of pop culture, and we’re very excited to have Hello Kitty as part of the VIZ Kids family of titles,†says Beth Kawasaki, VIZ Media Senior Editorial Director. “The new wordless comic and graphic novel series will appeal to Hello Kitty fans of all ages. VIZ Media is having a blast creating the fun new original series and we can’t wait for everyone to see the books.â€

NEW PEOPLE Travel Interview film and anime director Katsuhito Ishii

Posted by: Cybermario @ 6:54 pm Share in Facebook

The latest NEW PEOPLE Travel issue features an exclusive interview with Katsuhito Ishii, the famed creator of the anime racing film, Redline, the live-action movies, The Taste Of Tea and Funky Forest (both available from NEW PEOPLE Entertainment), and the anime portion of Kill Bill. His article is posted now for readers at www.newpeople.jp/travel/eng/ishii.html.

Katsuhito Ishii thrilled North American filmgoers with his first feature film, Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl, which inspired Quentin Terantino to appoint Ishii to direct a vivid anime short depicting the brutal past of assassin O-Ren for his 2003 action film, Kill Bill. As a film director, Ishii delivered surrealistic off-beat tales in The Taste of Tea (2004) and Funky Forest (2005) and later went on to create a cruel yet beautiful hell-like world in the 2011 film, Smuggler.

Katsuhito Hishii

For the 2010 anime feature, Redline, he teamed up with anime director Takeshi Koike at Mad House studios and broke the boundaries of speed with an imaginative galactic car racing adventure.

“Katsuhito Ishii talks about his life and career and offers rare insights into his creative process in his interview and we are honored to feature this acclaimed director as the latest J-Pop culture luminary on the NEW PEOPLE Travel web site,†says Seiji Horibuchi, the founder of NEW PEOPLE, Inc. “We invite readers to visit this unique free web magazine and take a closer look at the source of Ishii’s fury and creative passion.â€

Katsuhito Ishii was born on December 31st, 1966 in Niigata prefecture. After graduating from Musashino Art University in 1992, he began his career as a commercial director at Tohokushinsha Film Corporation. He debuted as a film director in 1995 with a short film called The Promise of August and continued to release renowned films such as Shark Skin Man and Peach Hip Girl (1999), Party 7 (2000), The Taste of Tea (2004), My Darling of the Mountains (2008), and Smuggler (2011). In 2003, he took on the animation production for Quentin Tarantino’s Kill Bill. His latest film, Hello! Junichi, was made in 2012 in collaboration with children and young directors who are past attendees from creative workshops he has held.

Some news before 2011 is gone

Posted by: Cybermario @ 6:25 am Share in Facebook

So that special time of the year is coming and Gendo Claus is coming to town! Ho~ Ho~ Ho~! It has been some time since posting any news, my sincere apologies to our readers.

There’s been many ideas and projects i wanted to make a reality but alas, i did not, mainly for lack of manpower, a few health issues and what not.
If you know who can perform a cheap surgery so i can get Doctor Octopus arms, like in Spiderman to multitask and work more on the website drop me an e-mail.

Evangelion Gendo Claus

Well, there are ideas, i am dropping and/or changing to bring more anime content to the website as it was intended, as i am unable to work “Artist of the Month” and i’m not really that knowledgeable about Seiyu, sorry my Otaku powers are weak! This project will be on the backburner until someone with the proper desire to work on it jumps in the bandwagon.
In the meantime “Artist of the Month” will become “Opening/Ending of the week.” Where i’ll post and comment about a theme i like and why, a bit about the artist, etc.
The Anime Gallery doesn’t have much content now, but then again doing my best will be uploading new images soon, the lyrics database is semi functional but i dont want to release it to the public until we make it work like we want.

Anime Radio, for a long time wanted to bring this back to life but could not, finally got a host for it, not perfect and may crash from time to time but 90% uptime is not bad, been uploading tons of music and soon will be adding the link on the website.
Stay tuned because we will have more reviews, including anime, and don’t hate me, if i spoil some shows for you. It’s hard not to when you write about some shows, some contests coming soon and more.

If you feel generous this season, click our Splitreason and Play-Asia banners, you will be supporting the web and you will make me smile.
Last but not least, THANK YOU!! Thanks everyone for visiting the web and hope you enjoy what we have to offer, we are steadily growing and will have more this 2012. So please stay with us, Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!

The highly popular Shaman King by Hiroyuki Takei makes a return with a new manga! To be published in the Jump X (KAI) magazine on november 10. This new chapter has 44-pages, including full-color pages opening the story, plus a poster that im sure will be desired by many.

The new story will be a one shot manga, this will be an untold “Zero Story” focusing on the main character Yoh Asakura.
Seems that this new story will be the beginning of a major project of Shaman King, which could be revealed this next spring.
