Ubisoft released a new Rayman Origins trailer that looks so eye candy! the video shows gameplay of this new Rayman adventure with a very unique style. Dont ask me why but one of the music tracks in this new video remind me “The Three Amigos” hehehe.
When the Glade of Dreams is overrun by “nefurrious” Darktoons, the Fairy Council hastily invokes Rayman to save the day; but the hero of light isn’t quite all there…To help him, Rayman teams up with his best friend, Globox, and two crafty wizards, the Teensies. From Dust Review (XBLA)
Games where you play the role of a deity will make people recall memories of classics such as Black & White. Highly influenced by aboriginal and tribal details, From Dust comes to the Xbox 360 with a concept quite original.
With magnificent scenarios that remind us of why Mother Nature has been feared and revered by many cultures. Ubisoft gives us a very pleasant game.
Story
Simple yet delightful, in the middle of the ocean in a small piece of land the aborigines in search of the memories of the tribe, create “The Breath”, a mystical deity to help them in their journey through the world. “The breath” helps them to discover new lands and recover the memories of the ancients to guide them to their final destination.
Although it might seem like the typical managment game, this is not a game where you manage tasks for the people of the tribe, or in which you build houses for them. Part of the goal includes building villages yes, once you find a totem they will travel there and build a village.
But building villages is not the objective in the game. After all the secondary objectives like building villages and finding memories has been completed you have to guide your people to sanctuary guiding them to strange new lands in search of the ancients.
With the help of “The Breath” you can move huge amounts of sand, molten lava or water which you use to help the tribe. Whether creating dams made of hot lava to divert rivers, bridges made of sand or expand the vegetation where only barren rock existed before or protect the village from terrible tsunamis.
And how do you solve the challenges you encounter in every level leaves alot of freedom to the player to decide and make their own strategies.
The game does not have a lot of music, with the exception of tribal music you hear when a tsunami is getting closer. Reminds me a lot like the kind of music australian aboriginals play. i’m sure i’m not mistaken to think the designers had them in mind when they worked the concept for this game.
Campaign
The campaign, with 13 unique levels where you must face and master the powers of nature to overcome the different challenges. From the most basic to the most difficult challenges in the last levels, the campaign, is varied and quite entertaining.
Challenges
This game mode offers more than 37 different challenges, need more? If you finished campaign mode and want more, these challenges are what you crave for! In some of these challenges “The Breath” will be able to use only one the powers such as lava or water (to name a few) in which the tribes must survive natural disasters or that a certain number of Aboriginal reach a totem fighting against the elements to build a new village, some are easy and some not so.
Downsides
Entertainment as it is From Dust feels somewhat short, the first time not knowing much about the level you play you can take some time to complete the challenge but once you finished the game and go for a second run of the campaign, you can see the game ends quite fast as you use the learned strategies for each level.
No co-op at all, and although it would have been nice to have for challenge mode specially, it’s not really needed that much and is nothing to miss.
Extras
The game includes an award for our avatar, a tribal mask that looks great! Unfortunately it is the only award for your avatar on the game.
Overall
From Dust offers a different concept that looks and feels fantastic, a game that tells us much about the delicate balance of our world in a unique way. Graphics are good, controls and gameplay arent bad either. Available for 1200 Microsoft Points, a good game with a unique style everyone should try.
We give the game 8.5 out of 10

Beyond Good & Evil HD Review (XBLA)
Beyond Good & Evil was originally released for different platforms including PC, Xbox, Game Cube & Playstation 2 back in 2003. the game makes a sweet comeback after a High Definition makeover. Beyond Good & Evil HD is the third title part of the Xbox Live Arcade, House Party promotion.
Created by Michel Ancel, best known for Rayman. Beyond Good & Evil the action-adventure game returns with overhauled character models, textures and music. So if you missed the chance to play this back in 2003, you can’t let this excellent game pass!

Story
Set in a remote galaxy, in the futuristic mining planet Hillys. You play as Jade, a photo journalist and martial artist, along with Pey’j an inventor. In your place you give refuge to orphans that lost their families in hands of the invaders known as DomZ.
After an attack and needing money to keep the forcefield of the lighthouse working to protect the kids, you take a dangerous and fishy job request, knowing there will be perils but ignoring the real danger and the magnitude of the problem faced by the entire galaxy.
The IRIS Network is a wanted organization by the government and the Alpha Sections that have been keeping the peace and defending the planet from the DomZ.
Recruited by the IRIS, Jade discovers the Alpha Sections may be colluded with the DomZ. Who’s telling the truth and who is lying? It is up to you and old good Pey’j to unveil the mystery.
Gameplay
This is an action-adventure game with a twist of puzzle solving, by solving the puzzles you progress through different levels and of course the storyline.
You control Jade and the AI takes over Pey’j, but it’s up to you to co-ordinate the attacks of both, to create combos and defeat enemies, take actions to solve puzzles by opening doors, pull levers and more.
I probably make it sound more complicated than it really is. Pey’j and the other AI controlled characters attack or performs an action by pressing Y, it is easy and it’s well implemented.
There’s different ways to get credits, one by taking photographs of animals and insects to send to the institute, the amount of the credits you earn depends on the kind of photo. This includes taking shots in the middle of boss fights.
You can also gain credits, by obtaining shards of crystals you encounter in mines and by defeating monsters. By winning races with your hovercraft, or by playing and betting the mini games in the local bar to increase your credits even more.
Either by buying in stores, searching in the maps or defeating bosses you can collect pearls. Pearls can be used to upgrade your hovercraft in the garage. This dandy vehicle will take you all over the islands and around the town. Transport is not the only use for it, the hovercraft will also serve as a defense with its integrated weapons when you come under attack and helps to defeat the invading threat.

The soundtrack for Beyond Good & Evil HD, nothing but praises! Music tracks are varied and of excellent quality, ranging from Caribbean music in Mammago garage or an alternate style in the local bar. The music perfectly complements the style of the characters and provides a unique environment to the different areas of town.
Overall
Beyond Good & Evil HD is a great game with lots to offer! The game returns to our consoles paving the way for the upcoming release of the sequel Beyond Good & Evil 2.
With good gameplay, an entertaining and eclectic twist for both story and characters, plus a great soundtrack! This is a game well worth the 800 Microsoft Points. Beyond Good & Evil HD shows that good classics never get old!
If you are a playstation 3 owner feat not, the game will be released on the Playstation Network later this year.
We give the game a 9 out of 10!
