A 20 minutes long visual novel with a cute style.
A rather experimental game, Lily’s Day off is an extremely short Visual Novel. Each route is about two minutes long and, despite being completely different from each other, they are ultimately connected and explained by end.
While there wasn’t much to be seen at the story itself, Lily’s Day Off is noteworthy for a few things. First thing to note was that the game was made on Unity Engine, with full-3D assets. The main advantage of making a 3D Visual Novel is the ability to scale models, allowing the user to set their preferred resolution.
There was also a hidden menu inside the game with a playable, fully-3D model of Lily.
And finally, players had the ability to pick out which clothes Lily would be using during the game.
I became quite fond of the style used on the game, with stars for icons and scribble notes for text background. Overall there is nothing to be seen here other than a concept of what a Visual Novel could look like on a regular game engine, though the whole thing was pretty good for a 20 minute game.
